Leptospirosis

The rainy season is one season that we must be aware, in addition will lead to flooding and standing water. we should be aware of flood hazards, we also should be aware of the spread of disease during the floods. As one of a very dangerous disease, that is Leptospirosis.
Leptospirosis is a disease caused by germs contained leptospires in the urine of mice and other rodents. If the urine of mice that contain germs or bacteria are soluble in water, such as flooding and standing water, the water can become a medium of transmission to humans. Our skin is wounded, though small, or the mucosa of the body is in contact with water contaminated with the bacteria leptospires it will become the entrance of these germs to infect the body.

The initial symptoms of leptospirosis are very high fever accompanied by severe headache, nausea, vomiting, and severe pain in the muscles, especially calf muscles. If not promptly treated, patients with skin and eyes will be yellow, accompanied by enlargement of the liver. The longer the disease is untreated can cause acute kidney failure and liver failure, can even lead to death.

This disease can be treated with atibiotik and will not be complications such as kidney failure and liver failure if immediate action. So beware when the rainy season and frequent flooding as it is today. More importantly, do some preventive measures so as not infected with leptospirosis, such as:

     Do not play around or swim in the pools of water during a flood.
     Always wear boots when forced to go into a puddle of water
     Always maintain personal hygiene by washing hands before eating.

Therefore beware of flooding and the spread of diseases caused by the influence of the floods.
